Riding a new technology wave, Nissan has announced a smartwatch concept that it claims is the world’s first wristwatch that connects the performance of both the car and its driver.
The NISMO watch concept, it’s designed specifically for drivers of performance-focused NISMO vehicles. It allows drivers to monitor the efficiency of their vehicle with average speed and fuel consumption readings, access vehicle telematics and performance data while on the track, while at the same time it can capture biometric data through a heart rate monitor and receive tailored messages from Nissan. The watch will connect to the car through a smartphone app and BlueTooth.

“Wearable technology is fast becoming the next big thing and we want to take advantage of this innovative technology to make our Nismo Brand more accessible,” said Gareth Dunsmore, Marketing Communications General Manager, Nissan in Europe. “On track, Nissan uses the latest biometric training technologies to improve the performance of our Nissan Nismo Athletes and it is this technology we want to bring to our fans to enhance their driving experience and Nismo ownership.”
